Volunteer in Ruse (7)

Like it didn't exist: installing tents, paintings, children, masks, last Bulgarian lesson, spreading flyers. Them all are like dust in the wind now. A hug and a kiss for a butterfly, children songs for two tigers; I felt so thankful that I was in the square those days, painting soft and tiny cheeks and transforming white paper into fantastic characters. Traditional lunch at Chiflika restaurant for this entire third week in Ruse did a mambo jumbo good in our pockets, even though Ramon got sick of so much soup with yogurt and cucumber. However, this will be my happy fast soup from now on.

But nothing compares with BH Library: it has magic. Small talks, no coffee, interesting people, nice furniture, shelves filled with books, dreams and words after words, ZAZ and all the other music I am usually listening. Fell in love of it and of the moments we spent there in silent and deep mood. Boys even took a nap here. I took all the poems, lyrics, music, writings, photos, warmth and kindness I could. Whom should be my mentor here? Ohhh... nooo... I have a better one.

Eroes by πανδηςI, Cyprus split, nostalgic Greek people, Kostas Karyotakis and it's poem Athens, crazy Belgians and good music finally, all happened in the not so Greek night. I know the secret about Vincent's puree, but I seal my mouth for the next 7 generations as a secret has to remain a secret.

Danube walking and sand statues, first fight with Bulgarian mosquitoes that don't seem to like me as much as the Romanian ones, Greece in changing moments and an evening talk about this followed. Romanian people, we would need the same to escape the indifference. "Lighter" game and telling stories, please! Too much sobriety! Whom will I miss most? Will I marry first? Am I the most dangerous one here? Uhh... Very interesting results with this game.

Sangria is amazing. Never drunk something better for body and spirit in the same time. And the potatoes with different flavoured sauces... mmm... they were wonderful. And all the sexy dances, and all the costumes, and all the good disposition. Spanish night was the best.

My sunglasses broke in that evening while taking another walk on the Danube shore with a beautiful sunset caressing our faces. But what is this compared to me carried like a baby by a force to the wonderful  moments of that evening?

Bad sleeping nights and strange energy from time to time also happened in Ruse. Before the midnight summer I was staring at the stars and clouds and realized that they are so much right, we people only are getting wrong all the time. After felling asleep, a bad dream with hard heart beating came. Pff! Come on, it was 4:25 in the morning and I was walking like a mad hallucinated one in the room. In fact, I am so much connected to nature, people and energies around that I can not escape them.
You wouldn't think of this, but I danced a lot in Bulgaria. Dancing in all languages. Can I do it without? Not anymore. Eating together, cooking together with friends - all that I missed lately happened here.

Oh my God! Did he really told that to the vice mayor in Ruse? We had a visit at the municipality on Thursday and, at one point, when we were giving suggestions for the carnival, crazy Vincent proposed the vice mayor to do like in his country: during the carnival in Belgium, a man chosen from low level society is the mayor of the city for about 3 days. He receives all the rights and the power of a mayor and can use it for any change he wants for the community. Ruse is not that good managed by the local authorities, so.... I looked in that moment in people's eyes and I really felt a huge satisfaction. Vice mayor tried a diplomatically answer but no, he was stuck already.

Begotten... Watching a movie with friends and fell asleep - for sure I missed this. We failed and this amuses me now, but the movie is too strange for my tastes. Anyhow, it was enough that in that day I fell in love with Violeta se fue a los cielos. I remember that day because I also had a nice walk to the Danube river with the boys. It was soft rain with little cold raindrops coming on our faces. A little warm wind was gently walking around. We sat and stared at waves, sky and birds. We talked from time to time, but it was all about silence and feeling, each on his own. We walked, then stand and listened to the stories brought by the water. When only three of us remained we laid on our back on the shore. Lucian even took a nap there. We had warm asphalt, a beautiful sunset beginning, twisted clouds, a blue boat floating yet tied, people riding bicycles. I listened to all the sounds around... Back in the flat, we had the opportunity to listen to a live concert from a window while people from the street were starring and applauding. Secret stories, discovering past and life followed.  That was a complete day.

Saturday and Sunday we left Ruse: 6 in a car with tents and back packs. We had a little disagreement at the very first hour - oh, Romanian people! Anyhow, we left this place with a squeezed Silvia near me (6 was already too much for that car) and with Rags 'n' Run lyrics coming from a corner. First place: Basarbovski built in rock church. Too many people, too many Romanians in that place. We just had 2-3 quiet minutes which we spent in a little praying cave with our thoughts and wishes. A big hug and we were down for another destination. I had the chance to do a good thing there and I think this was huge that I could receive in that moment, in that place.

Ivanovo... I rediscovered this place with so much joy and peace. We parked near a fountain where we drunk spring water and spent some moments for heart and soul, cooling ourselves. When I saw that little wood bridge that was crossing the river nearby, I felt to run to it. I found there a house with a garden and I laid on my back in the fresh cut grass. The sun was so powerful at that moment, but I liked it. I was back in my home garden, taking a sunbath during summer holiday. Back again and we went up. Such a beautiful view. I climbed the little hill and stand there, burned by the hot sun and thinking of nothing. Snail shells, nymph of hills, a yellow flower, thank you for all, medidation. And that's it. From now on, we will be only Romanians in the car and we will try to find a common sense. Going to Cherven fortress, but first stop has to be the road side cherry tree. So, picture me and Lucian up on the car, picking and eating white cherries in the same time. How far this memory comes from? Fortress, another cooling place, spring water and time to lay on back. Our next destination: Veliko. We were so amazed by this place that we couldn't wait to discover its streets, its people and its energy. Because it was already late, we ate good pizza, drunk Kamenitza and laughed at the 3 pancakes Sergiu orderd only for himself and that was it.

Emen canyon was our final destination for that evening. We couldn't imagine how beautiful this place would be. We camped in tents on a field of flowers, on a top side of the canyon. Frogs were singing, birds were talking, we were in our cocoon with meeting the bear stories and having rankings. Results: Ramon, Alvaro, Jose, Noelia and Despina... well, the majority voted them as the prettiest ones. The night fell down while the girls were still giggling. It was already hot at 7 in the morning, when we packed everything and went to discover the canyon. Water, rocks, bridges, snakes, lizards and a lot of vegetation. At one point, Silvia and Georgiana went back and I decided to take a bath in the river. Did you ever try this? I think this is a MUST in your lives. There is no other renewing feeling like this. Me and Sergiu decided to go back to the car, but first we had a meeting with a snake that jumped between us. I run back and already thinking what to do if it will bite. Sergiu was the most scared one, but I admired him: as the snake didn't do anything for the following 30 seconds, Sergiu decided to jump back and come to me. Huh, we were safe now.

Back on the car: girls left a message that they were in the village, so we went to find them, but on the main way. We waited there for one and a half hour and no one appeared. I think we drunk a "forbidden" water from a fountain (the shop was closed) and I started writing. Because no one came, we decided to go back to the car. I found a mulberry tree and ate as much as I could as I had no breakfast that morning. No one yet at the car, so we left a note. Finally they appeared and we found out that they looked for us all over the places, climbing again the canyon. They were scared, angry and tired because they heard a woman screaming in the canyon and they thought something happened to me. We had a big fight, but I hope we all learned something from this. We came back to Veliko,  but we only had time to visit the fortress and to have a meal. From the place we ate, view was wonderful: the river crossing the city and built on hill houses. A girl was reading on a roof having the same view. I would've like so much to be in her place.

We run back home on high speed as the others were waiting for us to shoot together a scene for the movie project. So, dirty as we were, we jumped in our carnival costumes and shoot the scene. And finally... time to rest, to dream and share.

... Just a wind that beautiful passes through a girl's hair. Just the sun on her face for a moment. A melody touching her heart. And smiles when she is up, in the mountains. Enough to carry her back to what she is. She keeps forgetting this: who she is - a peaceful person having love inside and thinking a hug can change the world. Bad words do bad to her, but big love... amazingly change her to the truth inside her.
